the early tv shows were “brought to you by” a sponsor, maybe two

later sesame Street would claim their shows were brought to you by a letter of the alphabet

now even three-minute video reels are interrupted by commercials

and the “skip” button seems to be being disappeared

so “skip” is itself skipped

so the hell with watching random stuff that is rudely, spoilingly interrupted

we will stop wasting time when we skip all that

but let’s not skip the opportunity

to rejoice in the usefulness of the word

a word that you can call a captain

or the manager of a baseball team

a word that describes a flat thrown stone

as it interacts with a pond

a stutter step half-run

the unexpected untenanting of an apartment

to avoid paying rent

something you do to y’lou

dismissal of an uninteresting anecdote mid-sentence

a needle jumping the groove of a vinyl record

a british lidless dumpster
