Li’l Universe and Her Big Sister
Faithful readers will recall “Li’l Universe,” a clay sculpture I offered for delectation about a half dozen posts ago. The faithfullest reader of all, Monsieur Michel Lamontagne of Canada, whimsically and delightfully created an image of an alien creature “misusing” Li’l Universe at a bowling alley. So this post is dedicated to him.
The big sister of Li’l Universe is much closer to bowling-ball size than her kid sibling, though still marginally shy of regulation size. In the photo above I’ve included one of my “business” cards, measuring 2 inches by 3-1/2 inches (approximately 50mm x 75mm if memory serves, Michel), to show scale. I also took a couple of webcam selfies, thus:
So, friend Michel, there you have it. May your Byworld sojourns lead you to ever more fulfilling creative endeavor!

It’s a tiny li’l universe! Almost Men in Black 1 size!
I wonder, will big universe hold water? I can just see my sweetheart sticking individual flowers into the holes on the top and sides; she’s a very practical person 😉
Do you like very very far from Denver? I will be accompanying my better half to a Hydro Electric power convention/show this summer, around mid-July, and looking for things to do, since it’s not my professional field.
Here’s an answering link, my friend, based on where I will most likely be living in July: http://www.distancebetweencities.net/denver_co_and_cottonwood_az/
Remember FIELD OF DREAMS? “If you build it, they will come.”
Ouch, that’s a lot of driving! Two years ago the show was in Sacramento ( it alternates east coast west coast every year) perhaps next year it’ll be in Vegas … that seems more doable.
On the other hand perhaps we could fly home from Vegas, after driving by the Grand Canyon. That would be kind of cool…hum… I’ll have to think about it.
Michel, the fact that you’re even considering it REALLY makes my day! Thanks so much!
PS Big Universe will not hold water–it and Li’l Universe are luminaria. 🙂
AHhhhhh, finding water in the li’l universe would be a shocking discovery then.
Unless they are universes powered by candle power. Then I guess water would lead to the ultimate heat death of the universes, extinguishing all light from these celestial spheres…
