love in ten lines
“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” –Robert A. Heinlein
My friend from the Philippines, Marlyn Exconde, just challenged me, thus:
- Write about love using only 10 lines.
- Use “love” in every line.
- Each line can only be 4 words long.
- Nominate 10 or so others who are up for the challenge.
- Let them know about the challenge.
- Title the post, Love in Ten Lines
- Include a quote about love
*****
love in ten lines
they who love truly–
with a heartfelt love–
dispense that love willingly,
without reciprocal love required.
love is radiant waveforms.
love is not shakedowns.
love is wishing well;
love returned freely, priceless.
love may seem “lost,”
but LOVE waves–always.

As for nominating ten or so to do this challenge, I nominate S., G., M., K., B., C., A., D., J., and F. If you’ve read this far, and your first name begins with one of those letters, consider yourself nominated! 🙂
How beautiful! You know, my name starts with a Q, but I’m actually thinking of taking on the challenge!
I so hope you do, Ms. Q!
Too bad, I’m an L… 😉 Léa
Whoops–I forgot L! Please proceed! 🙂
Nice try! 😉 I did enjoy the post.
love in ten lines…
i heard of love
i dreamt of love
to have a love
to be in love
love as a prank
love as a slash
love as a sigh
love like melancholy dreaming
madness calls love partner
love will not repent
Wonderful, Margie! Your “Je Ne Regrette Rien”! Thank you for this!
love is the icing on the cake of our remaining days/daze…
Okay, a quick rough draft but only the words no passing on… Sorry, I haven’t had any café yet!
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” – Lao Tzu
Amour en dix lignes (Love in ten lines)
Love lets us grow
Amour brille la lumière (Love shines the light)
Love is not perfect
Amour comprends nos défauts (Love embraces our faults)
Love can absorb tears
Tenderness is love’s cocoon
L’amour crée une forteresse (Love creates a fortress)
Love’s rivers run deep
Silent love gives strength
Avec amour fleurit soins ( With care love blooms)
Bisous,
Léa
Thank you, thank you, thank you for rising to the challenge! You made my day. What a fitting quotation, and how delightful your interweaving of translation, maintaining the four-word and amour-inclusive format in both languages!
Kisses,
Gary
Merci beaucoup. It was a bit of a challenge sticking to four words per line in both languages but that makes it more fun. Bisons, Léa
Gary, you do have a very clever way of nominating. each line breathes the essential truths about love
again, thanks for accepting the challenge
;D
Marlyn, look at all the good you did–and from halfway around the world. You’re Magically Poetic! 🙂
coming from you
i’d like to believe it’s true
thanks Gary
;D
I love those radiant waveforms. We all need some of those! And thanks for your compliments on my poem. This was a hard challenge, to write a 40 word poem, with one quarter of the words having to be “love.”
Indeed, there is nothing to compare with those radiant waveforms washing over us. 🙂 Thanks again, Brenda!
