you drew like a wizard
your drawings a blizzard
that sculpted your times and today.
Little nemo and Gertie the Dinosaur! What comics they had in their papers in those days! Now they have completely disappeared form my local paper. Dilbert was the last to go 😦
Yes, and surveys and rationalization. Comics were never as much part of the culture in Quebec as in the US; we always had albums, Tintin, and Asterix, and these were more important to us, I believe. The comic strip as practiced in newspapers is really an american art form, and it never quite caught on in french Canada. There are still some comics in the Montreal Gazette, for example.
Thank you, Donald. He did have dignified intelligence in abundance, and put it to the service of some of the finest visual storytelling ever created. I’m gratified to think my portrait might reflect that.

That’s a shame, Michel. Another casualty of the digitization of information, I suppose…

The Gazette being our English newspaper here in Montreal.
I hope some day you will lend your efforts to some space-travel-based comic strip continuity, Michel. You’ve got the chops for it!
Really like the intelligent and dignified expression you captured in his image.

It certainly does. Well done.
