Sweetheart Darling Baby [Love] (duet)

(Note: the boy is bold, the girl italic, together both.)

We will figure it all out

Sweetheart Darling Baby Love

Push will never come to shove

Long as we’re together.

..

Karma’s what it’s all about

Sweetheart Darling Baby Friend

Fall and rise and rest and wend

Long as we’re together.

..

Sugar in our every kiss

Sweetheart O so empathetic

Now we’re Type 2 diabetic

But we are together.

..

Fun and Games maintain our bliss

Sweetheart Darling Staunch Companion

And our ardor fills a canyon

Evermore together.

he on vibes and she on cello

one was spritely both were mellow

lively lady hopeful fellow

.

she played stones’s she’s a rainbow

he felt groovy played in day-glo

59th street bridge song way low

.

both wove stovetop stuffing steaming

riffs and contrapuntal streaming

simon and mick jagger dreaming

.

one crescendo teased another

hit the heights then let them wuther

done and spent they eyed each other

.

love of sorts was made, and how

but the knitting of her brow

promised more…but not just now

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of hearing a father & daughter duet on ukulele and harmonica. The gentleman is 92 years young. The lady has been my friend for more than twenty years.

The words:

Daughter & Dad blow harp & pick
It is Magic but it ain’t no trick–a
Cat’s meow in a reedy blur
Keeping time that is loose yet sure
& Dad & Daughter’s musical fun
& games: years long yet new-begun
